Creating an abstract background

Start by creating a star shape using custom shape tool.

Press Ctrl+T. Right click the layer and select warp. Adjust nodes to get the shape as shown.

Press Alt key and keep hitting the left arrow key to create 3d extrusion.

Select and merge all the duplicate layers. Double click the layer to open layer style window. Apply layer style with the settings shown.

Apply the same layer style to the original star layer.

Select and merge both the star layers. Double click the layer to open layer style window. Apply layer style with the settings shown.

Duplicate the layer several times and play around with color modes.

Select and merge all the layers. Duplicate the layer. From filter menu select sketch>>photocopy. Apply settings as shown.

Change the layer mode to color burn.

Duplicate the layer and change the layer mode to overlay.

Merge all the layers. Duplicate the layer and change the layer mode to linear dodge.

From layer menu select new adjustment layer>>hue/saturation. Apply settings as shown.

Drawing an Ostrich

Start by creating a circle using elliptical shape tool.

Press Ctrl+T. Right click the layer and select warp. Adjust nodes to get the shape as shown.

Enable add to shape area form the top bar.

Create a rectangle for the neck using rectangular shape tool. Press Ctrl+T. Right click the layer and select warp. Adjust nodes to get the shape as shown.

Create another rectangle using rectangular shape tool. Press Ctrl+T. Right click the layer and select warp. Adjust nodes to get the shape as shown.

With add to shape area still enable create the belly of the bird using pen tool.

Using pen tool create a shape as shown.

Duplicate and place on the other side.

Create hair using pen tool.

Double click the layer to open layer style window. Apply layer style with the settings shown.

Create two ellipses for the eye.

Duplicate, scale down and place for the other eye.

Using polygon tool create a triangle. Press Ctrl+T. Right click the layer and select warp. Adjust nodes to get the shape as shown.

Create a rectangle for the wing using rectangular shape tool. Press Ctrl+T. Right click the layer and select warp. Adjust nodes to get the shape as shown.

Enable add to shape area form the top bar. Using polygon tool create a triangle. Press Ctrl+T. Right click the layer and select warp. Adjust nodes to get the shape as shown.

Similarly create more shapes and place as shown to complete the wing.

Duplicate the wing layer, flip horizontal and place it for the other side.

Create a rectangle for the leg using rectangular shape tool.

Enable add to shape area form the top bar. Create a rectangle using rectangular shape tool. Press Ctrl+T. Right click the layer and select warp. Adjust nodes to get the shape as shown.
